That nearly half of adults (44 percent) or 83.9 million people volunteered their time: Their work represents the equivalent of over 9 million full-time employees at a value of $239 billion; The average volunteer gave 3.6 hours of time per week; and the annual hours volunteered were 15.5 billion.

Red Cross Volunteers
Volunteers comprise 97% of the American Red Cross workforce.
Volunteers and volunteer blood donors comprise 99% of the American Red Cross workforce.
One in every 273 Americans is an American Red Cross volunteer.
One in every 56 Americans is an American Red Cross volunteer or volunteer blood donor.
More than a million Red Cross volunteers nationwide provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
There are more than 5 million Red Cross volunteers and volunteer blood donors. 
There are 29 volunteers for every American Red Cross employee.
There are 141 volunteers and volunteer blood donors for every American Red Cross employee.

Red Cross programs and services are possible thanks to numerous volunteers who generously share their time, skills and compassion.  Volunteers are teenagers and adults of all ages including retirees. Whether you can help for one hour, one day, as part of a group activity, or have more time to give, Red Cross has the perfect opportunity for you! 

As a nongovernment, nonprofit organization, we depend heavily on volunteerism. All American Red Cross services and programs are made possible through financial support of the community and volunteer efforts. The Jackson Area Chapter of the American Red Cross serves Madison, Gibson, Carroll, Crockett, Haywood, Hardeman, Henry, McNairy, Chester, Henderson, and Decatur Counties. With the chapter’s jurisdiction expanding, volunteers are needed more than ever.

Business and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

Ready When the Time Comes (RWTC) is an American Red Cross volunteer involvement program that utilizes the valuable human resources of corporate America. The Red Cross trains employees from partnering corporations and mobilizes them as a community-based volunteer force when disaster strikes. 

As Red Cross Corporate Volunteers your employees can help its community to recover from disasters by serving as:
